about Arlen Bensen

Barbechef

Arlen is a library professional, parent, writer and performing arts professional. He’s fortunate to serve on an awesome team at North Sarasota Library where his responsibilities are anchored in Youth Services. He earned an ALA-accredited MLIS from the School of Information at University of South Florida in Tampa. He was one of the original organizers of TEDxTampaBay and loves sailing about as much as eating and breathing.

Prior to library school, he enjoyed more than 30 years as a professional director, writer, teacher and performer. Arlen also holds an MFA in Directing for the Theatre from Rutgers University’s Mason Gross School of the Arts and maintains his membership in SDC (the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers).

Many employment history highlights are available at Arlen’s public profile on LinkedIn

Arlen continues to learn how to listen, when to keep his mouth closed, and how to recognize the appropriate moments to share stories, thoughts or feelings.

If you read all this, you may have particularly strong curiosity, or you may just need more to do.

No matter which is true, or whatever other inspiration may be operating, thanks for visiting.

Warmly, Arlen
